My Mother's Six

My Mother's Six

A Poem by ashleydawn

Swiftly skiming

for an empty canvas

to release impatient prose

My fingers catch a page

and my eyes a number

Selected at random

in tune with memory

I shuddered at how

without intention

I had drawn

my mother's six.
