Like a Band-aid

Like a Band-aid

A Poem by ashleydawn

You told me I needed

to rip it off quickly,

like a band-aid.

If I had the nerve

to interrupt your long winded speech,

I would have told you

that band-aids should only be removed

after well seasoned healing

and once a protective scab had formed.

My wound, so recent

is too vulnerable to infection

right now.
