The Mistake of Sacrifice

The Mistake of Sacrifice

A Poem by ashleydawn

Oh Goodmorning!

Welcome, welcome

Young soon-to-bes

Everyone, take a seat,

let's get started now.

You've all come with expectations

I'm sure, right ?

You hope to leave this class

with the knowledge

of how to raise a child.

The tools you unfortunately lack

even as the months

grow your belly.

I hope that this hope will become

reality for you,

and that I will be able to

teach you the ways

effectively.

Now, to begin

I will point you to the most important

of every lesson I speak of today

the most important, ladies

so listen up.

The years of growth will trying

they will be difficult.

You will lose sleep,

good figures, decent diets.

Only for a short 18 years.

But keep this in your heart young ones

even through the struggles,

even when you feel like you can't

comit to this any longer,

when you feel as though you have given it all up

and not to receive gratefullness?

I beg of you to never,

never, ever, ever

tell your children that you sacrificed for them

never bring them to tears

when you show everything you've gone through

when you make them remember what you had to lose,

what you had to wait for,

what you never got to do.

Keep it to yourself my dears,

for this was your choice of course.

And you owe this child sacrifice.
