Skipped a Step

Skipped a Step

A Poem by ashleydawn

I feel like I missed something
or the steps got rearranged
I jumped ahead of the game
and completed the requirements
of maturity, almost.
I missed the backing of
the sweet teenage years
with mistakes and tempers rampid
Disobedience, Disrespect
I had none of it
But now, as I displayed some
younger qualities, you act confused
You see and hold me within
the borders and confines of
a young adult
and a teenage heart
begs to be let free.
