Please Stop Bringing the Screwdriver

Please Stop Bringing the Screwdriver

A Poem by ashleydawn

You work in secret

Quickly withing the folds of frozen time

as soon as our eyes meet

Unhinging my jaw

and letting it hang open

without restraint

The open path lay then

for word upon syllable upon breathe

to escape without thought

I never understood why this happened

and only with you

But now I think I see your ways

How the screw is always placed precisely

in its spot for me to continue the day

I'd ask that you please

Stop bringing the screwdriver
