You Miss the Title, Not the Duty

You Miss the Title, Not the Duty

A Poem by ashleydawn

Are you proud of me Mommy?
Have I finally shown you enough?
Do you brag about me Mom?
I wonder these things at night...
I've grown so much out here
but you really don't care, do you?
You honestly like to talk about yourself
Only asking me what's new
out of guilt.
You keep the tears welled up in storage
to pain me with every call
On purpose?
This life of mine
has never been about me
has it?
Always
Always you.
and always
the bottle.
