Pieces to Assemble

Pieces to Assemble

A Poem by ashleydawn

Tall. Charming. You make me laugh.
A pig. Always on the go. Are you ever serious?
Kind. Musical. You honestly care.
Naive. Sheltered. Are you ever spontaneous?
Oh, if only
You two came in pieces
Parts packaged carefully
Individually wrapped in bubble wrap
Maybe with plastic peanuts as well?
and accompanied by an instruction manual
That stated to assemble you
as I please
That would be marvelous dear
To pick and choose
the good pieces
and to lay the less desirables
on the floor
for the dog to chew and drool on
A pre-ordered, mixed batch
of talents and characteristics
based on my score from the test
Ones that should already match
my personal interest
(If I filled the form out right)
But since those thoughts are fantasy
I guess I have to toss the both of you
and resume my wait
