Discontent

Discontent

A Poem by ashleydawn

Why do we look at old pictures
And think of old memories
When it's just not how it used to be?

Oh, me and you
We had our fun, I guess
We just didn't try

Tied down with shackles
Never to be undone
What had I gotten into?

Your darkness was tender
Intriguing to me
I couldn't will myself to stop
I swear I tried

I know my bitter fantasy
Will never become reality
And I've learned to live with that

I think

You're beautiful
You know that right?
Words of passion and fear complete you

I still don't understand
Why it is that I"m attached
To this sinking ship

But I know I'm done for
