Cry For AleppoA Poem by AshleyCry for AleppoBomb shells fall On a devastated city And as people Say their goodbyes The world stays silent Goes on its way Forgets about the lives Being lost As the last messages Sneak out There are lives bring torn apart And the noise is deafening A history A million stories We will never hear A heritage Their descendants Will never have Because we continue To ignore This crisis The world outside Hears nothing Nothing Of the children Of the families Of the people Like you and me So if it’s too late To act To stop it Then cry for them Cry like we cried For Paris For New York For Boston Cry for the kids Who don’t know A world without war Cry for the people Who lost their home To the bombs Cry for those Whose sky is covered in clouds Of dust made from houses Cry for the normal cities Just like ours That are little more Than rubble now Cry for the history We will never see As slivers are blasted Into oblivion Cry as rebels Fight government With no regard For civilian lives
