Without my shadow

Shadows trail us like a dark past, but they define us

My shadow is dark

Cast by the light in my life

Trailing behind me

And impossible rid myself of

 

But

It defines me

For with out my shadows

I would be only colours

A cartoon without depth

Every artist knows

That shadows bring

Drawings to life

 

My shadow is dark

Cast by the light in my life

But I needed it

It is part of me

This was just a piece I wrote for a bit of practice, based off the prompt 'Write a poem about your shadow' I'll probably write a longer version when I have time.
