Unrequited love never felt so angsty

It was slow

It had just begun

It started

Creeping up on me

And before I knew

It consumed me

I saw you

Everyday

Admired you

Everyday

Until I realized

Only 4 weeks ago

 

But today

You told me

In secret

That they kissed you

In the dark

Last night

 

I saw my hopes crumble

Like a castle

In an earthquake

But you’re so happy

How could I ruin that?

With something

That could tear us apart

Now,

When I see her

Or when you mention her name

I’m reminded that

She has what I’ll never get

Your love

 

But I’m happy for you

Nonetheless

And we’ll keep going on

Such an emotional piece. Unrequited love is hard, and you made a really well written expression of it. The best writing spills out from the heart, and I think that's why this poem is great. The lack of a rhyme scheme makes it seem more like a raw piece. Your line structure also makes the whole poem flow nicely.
