We flee into pages

To escape reality we dive into books

We flee into pages

Into paper stages

Into inky words

So the world can’t be heard

 

Runaway

To information

And quotations

To mystic creatures

And forbidden treasures

 

Lose ourselves

In green valleys

And dark alleys

In whirlwind romances

And the countryside of France

 

We make friends

With the lonely girl

Or the son of an earl

With the lovely boy

Or the wizard full of joy

 

To escape

From the taunts

From all the things

We don’t want

From the rain

From all the things

That bring pain
