Thanksgiving FestiveA Poem by Ashley AritaA poem in celebration of the wonderful holiday, Thanksgiving. I wish you all a happy Thanksgiving!
Feeling the tight knit fingers that envelop me,
My mouth smiles in glee like a sunshine in the morning. Rushing downstairs, my feet carry me forward, The fastest I've ever gone, like a roadrunner in the desert. Skidding to a stop, I hear, The talking of my family at the huge table. Stretching across the room like an airplane at an airport,My tongue licked my lips, eager to satisfy my cravings. Seeing the giant bird that stood in the middle, Smiling back at me with teeth wide open. Taking my place next to the ones I love, Endless happiness spreads to one another, like a plant's roots. A plate, passed down to me with a smile It's white blanket color gives a warm welcome. Like a fire in a fireplace Or a light in the darkness. The gold markings filled with tender smiles envelop the round disk, It's drawings of pine nuts and trees sprinkled over the top, The tall wide radius of the plate, used for food How grateful am I! The part of the bird separates from its mothership
Like a spaceship, it flies towards my plate, Attached to a silver crane
Landing in a place on the white planet, I use a crane and a mechanical arm to separate it. As I put it into its final resting place. Gulping it down, I nod my head for more Of the deliciousness that will come, For Thanksgiving we should be greatful
For the food that is in front of us today.
