A Spring Awakening of a Different Kind

A Spring Awakening of a Different Kind

A Poem by Ashley Acri
"

This poem discusses a new life, though not in the literal sense.

"
When you finally give yourself the freedom to accept what is, you will have your own spring awakening.
When you forget the world around you
And you no longer hear those critical words
And you drive out the demon in your mind telling you that you are something less than perfect
You will discover a new life.

You will discover the power of loving every dip and curve and stretch mark and dimple on your temple of a body.
You will discover that after the cold air blowing around in your mind in the form of insults and critiques and hatred
Can give way to warm thoughts of love and appreciation and worship in a whole new way.

You will realize that you are who you are and you are that well.
You will realize that others love your love of self more than they love the label on your jeans.
You will realize that your obnoxious laugh is music to the ears of your friends.
You will realize that a day follows every night
And that you are so much more.

You will awaken refreshed and happy.
Happy spring.
