Reflection

In this poem I describe what I see when I look in the mirror.

Who do you see when you look in the mirror
Do you recognize the person looking back at you
I see a girl, but I don't recognize her
She smiles a lot and doesn't show any pain
That is until I look into her eyes
In her eyes I see things in a different light
She looks scared and alone, like a bird in a cage
You can tell that her heart has been broken
She knows what it's like to loose all that she loves
She wants to love and be loved, but she's too scared to let anyone in
That's that girl that I know
That's the girl that I am

They are all great ideas, but that's it. As a poem they aren't cohesive, in fact they are too heavy all together. I know it's awful, but if you separate these "ideas" you could develop great poems, about two.
Please don't take my comment harsh it is just that I see how it could be great. your "ideas" are rather excellent.

I really like this, we often hide what we truly feel but we are the ones that can see past our mask. I liked how you worded everything, it flows smoothly...in my opinion anyway.

Yes! I get this totally. We smile and that smile does not reach our eyes. Many people do not notice the pain, only the smile that we have put on, sort of like a mask. But we know, we see behind that when we look in the mirror. Really well done.

Thats where the writing comes in. At least for me. It helps me to say what I cant say with my mouth (which is too busy smiling?) out loud.
