The Silent Duet

The Silent Duet

A Poem by AshleeKayann
"

Inspiration struck me :)

"

A soft melody plays in solitude;

delicate fingertips rest on the keys of a baby grand.

Eyes closed,

emotion takes over:

the sound echoes the feeling.

Eyes open.

The only light comes from a tall, slim window.

Across the snowy courtyard,

a lone musician plays facing me.

Without our knowledge or approval,

emotions collide,

and two fragile tunes become

a silent duet.

The final chord played, my unknown partner rises,

turns his back to the window,

and exits the room.

Once again,

I am alone with my chorus,

and I'll play to the company

of gently falling snow,

for I am the one

who remains.

I realy like this. Snowfall is sweeter music than many instruments . . . the cool thing about this is I used to play piano, and I actually did this once--but it was not to snowfall (unfortunately). I was watching raindrops come down outside the front windows, the way the nearly hopped off the ground they struck, and I played at the piano with no one listening; I was alone in the house.
