"Phantom Pain" (Double)

"Phantom Pain" (Double)

A Poem by AshleeKayann
"

This is a double of another prose poem. It's for a class assignment.

"
The pain he feels is etched on his face as if it were a scar.
It causes a spiraling depression, until he's lost everything he had.
Simultaneously, he fades into reality's cold, bland truth.
Driven mad with estranged normalcy, he begs us to hear him scream.
Delicate existence was never made to withstand such a trial.
Scenes of warm content replay in his mind as if they are mocking him;
his careless actions restrict them to being memories.
Though he feels these things, they hide beneath his skin like needles,
and every time he moves, his heart stops
It takes all of his strength not to explode

I'll bet there are many people, male and female, that feel the way you've described. The last three lines really put things into perspective. The tension can be felt and recognied. Nice job of writing.
