Untitled (Poem Duet)

Quite painful...

You can't hurt me,

but I know that you've tried.

You can't fool me,

only I see you've lied.

 

My emotions, should you find

are ever-so-severe.

Take the time to search my eyes,

it's then you'll see the fear.

 

The fear of all these past events

and what is still to come...

I simply want you to see

just where I'm coming from.

 

A single tear falls down my face

as you I see in vain;

I just don't get how you can't see

the anger and the pain.

 

I've put up with you for too long,

although I could not see

that all you've ever brought me

is pain and misery.

 

I'm done with this; I won't look back,

and should you start to fret,

remember what you did to me:

It's your fault you regret.

 

I've found someone who brightens my life

instead of bringing me down.

So don't come back, I won't be here;

you'll just look like a clown.

 

So don't look back, just turn away,

and run so far and fast.

It's better for the both of us...

I call this a "Poem Duet" because I wrote this with my writing soul sister, Taylor Anne Sides. It's a tad vulgar, I fear. My apologies. Life does its best to ruin us sometimes ;)
