And With The Seasons...A Poem by AshleeKayann
What happens when the summer ends?
Flowers wilt. Beaches empty, and the outside quiets. Leaves fall, taking with them the remnants of who we thought we were. It seems as though those beings could become part of us somehow. But outside it is cold, and loneliness has entered the center of my being. You aren’t who I thought you were. Not anymore. Perhaps life finally curled its fingers around you, choking out everything I admired you for. Perhaps you would no longer stand in the rain for her, waiting to be loved the way you deserve to be loved. In giving up that dream of yours, did you give up me too? Will you truly cease to appear in my doorway late at night, and never again call upon me to comfort you from your innermost demons? Snow is falling now, and in watching its graceful elegance as it falls from Heaven, I wonder: In its absence will you return to me, or will our togetherness never be? © 2011 AshleeKayannAuthor's Note
