Slaughter by Angels

Slaughter by Angels

A Poem by Morgan Ashire
"

My first piece of writing that I was ever proud of. Based on The Book of Revelation in the Holy Bible, but take it as you will.

"

Angel's scream a sorrowed song, as all lives parish in white-hot flame.

The smoke is blinding to all, but gods. These bodies burn in shame.

Toxin's stifle broken air, to suffocate the race of man.

Inhale ash and exhale life.

Descend and rot unprotected.

Repentance shan't come to the wicked,

For the wicked can only spite.

Feel their wrath as they descend

In all of their terrible might.

The scripture breathes a shattered word, as fire rains from open skies.

Writ within, it tells a tale of destruction and demise.

Their tongues speak clear of pain and hate.

Wreaking havoc, they shall create

The answers sought in long conspire,

The truth about the gods desire.

Repentance shan't come to the wicked,

For the wicked can only spite.

Feel their wrath as they descend

In all of their terrible might.

I like it, it's creative how you cultivated a chapter in the Bible into something of your own, great job!

I love how you put Revelations in your own words. It's my personal favorite book of the Bible. Thanks for the submission.

Like it, particularly the two verses about the wicked. They really work well and have a nice flow. I hate to criticise, though, but the first verse is perhaps needs thinking about when it comes to rhyme. I'm not brilliant at rhyming myself, but it seems odd that all the lines rhyme but the last three. Sorry but...
Lovely poem though. or is it a song, looking at Silent Pacer's review. And she's right. You should be proud! This was brilliant.

Solemn, eerie, darkly deafening. All these traits and more describe this poem. I enjoyed the read, and look forward to reading more of your poetry.
