9/11 RepercussionA Poem by Ashira MacyThis is mildly satirical and political, so if you are offended by those sorts of things then this is not for you.I realized far too late today That thirteen years back Tragedy knocked our morals Right off of sanity’s track.
Those planes crashed down With vicious, calculated vigor. War already on the brink, All they did was pull the trigger.
For years we took a moment To stop and honor them Those thousands of lives cut short, In a moment were condemned.
We must remember history Lest it repeat again, So tell me why we forgot our grief But continue to pretend.
These battles that we fight No longer count as self defense And though we voted Bush in twice We really aren't that dense.
So let’s try a new way to honor our dead And bring our troops back home instead. © 2014 Ashira MacyAuthor's Note
