Bleeding Poetry

Bleeding Poetry

A Poem by Ashira Macy
"

Because blood isn't enough.

"

It’s nights like this -

All silent and serene,

That my mind shrieks

As I bleed rivers of poetry.

Words rip at my wrists

From the inside, outward

Like jagged pieces of a broken mirror,

Shattered by my tortured soprano.

Rhymes burn through me,

Acid flowing through my veins

As rhythmic tears stream down

Agony scorched cheeks.

Prose propels needle

After toxin tipped needle

Through each and every nerve,

Jolting twinge to each transition.

Then… the punctuation clots

With a sudden burst of sympathy,

And as the pain ebbs away

I can relish in numb rapture.

Thank you for being so honest with us as readers about what it means to you to be a poet. Thank you for capturing the true essence of what writing is to you and just how important it is to you and all who come across your words. I think this is a beautiful piece and it leaves an impact quite unlike any other. The word choice is absolutely stunning and the way your voice shines through every word is absolutely stunning. The flow is spot on and the style (as simple as it was) definitely kept the piece in tact. Great job.

phenomenally penned.

Dark but wonderfully written. We all have moments where dark thoughts lead our actions. Sometimes it is for he better, others, for the worse. I think this piece was for the better, considering you did not hurt yourself in fact.

I never hurt myself, the emotions just rip at me sometimes. But writing is therapeutic.

the thoughts cut through us and we bleed poetry..."shattered by my tortured soprano"

DAMN, I love this, I can so relate and I would hope all poets will… when writing is in your blood you either bleed it out in verse bleed to death in silence.

Words rip at my wrists... Very dark place to go to have to write, I would think, Ashira. But I also completely understand where you're coming from here. And, while I never cry while writing my own poems, I have on occasion been moved to tears by others I've read from different authors. It's what makes us human, I think.

Well done.

Oh love 'numb rapture' muchly better than comfortably numb. A tortured soprano indeed, anyone who's written poetry bleeds within your words. I love a poem about poetry, this is sheer perfection in capturing the mindset of a poet. Outstanding!
