Inspiration Infatuation

Inspiration Infatuation

A Poem by Ashira Macy

Torn between lustful infatuation

And fearful of your intimidation

Your intellect sets my logic on fire.

Exploring my brain for rhyme or reason,

Longing for concrete, set explanation,

It only increases psychic desire

To caress your wondrous mental physique,

Bask in that sensual rhythmic technique…

Cognitive trap for emotional pyre.

Come now, virtuoso I’ll stoke that flame!

Visionary wildfire’s nowhere near tame,

As it shan’t until I finally tire

Of your dazzling, frightening intellect

To withdraw to solitude’s introspect,

But for now I’ll survey, merely… admire.

Pwoah!

I love this poem. The rhyming scheme is tight and adds nice rhythm, pace and energy.
'Your intellect sets my logic on fire.' - I love this line.

And articulating a passion that is directed at a person's mental rather than physical being is unusual, and therefore fresh and thought-provoking!

Thank you for sharing it :-)

Wow Ashira, buy my a drink first, I never knew you felt that way ;)

This is quite a nice little piece, anything that silences the endless buzzing of the world whilst reading it certainly smells like talent to me. It was as enrapturing as it was painful. I say painful because this is filled with so much repressed longing that I feel it calls for the subtext to become the text itself. Fight repression with expression, is that not somewhat of a mantra for so many poets?

Loved the couplets, cadence, meter, hats off. Can't wait for what's underneath.
Nicely penned.

This is well done and clever, I like the sensual undertone and the easy flow and emotion carried throughout. I personally took a liking to the first verse

Torn between lustful infatuation
And fearful of your intimidation
Your intellect sets my logic on fire.

The way you laid logic in here, you made logic sound sexy. Well done :) Definitely will read this more

Thank you my friend.
This one I also read, just the other day when it was new. I was moved to tingling by what it evoked within me. What I most love about this, I think, is how it invites me to remember my own intellectual infatuation(s) along with you, and delight in the reason they were SO VERY arousing, intoxicating, magnetic. There is nothing sexier than a brilliant mind.

"Sets my logic on fire" --- Just WOW. To me this has double meaning (intentional?) It sets her logic on fire with heat of desire... or it sets her logic on fire as in consumes it so that no logic any longer applies to the moment. Either/both -- WONDERFUL.

Very much enjoyed this piece. Makes me long for times past. ;)

A very powerful piece that explores the deep connections that we form with people that go beyond physical form.
