All Over AgainA Poem by Ashira MacyTrends come and then they go With changing tides of blue… But just like changing currents, They come right back to haunt you. Mom wore denim bell bottoms Back in ’76, And dad had on those skinny jeans And heavy chains to do the trick. So here they are again Those same old friendly faces All spectral and translucent, And my heart rate all but races. Still those same old voices All ripe with melodious scam. Full of rhymes and promises They can’t keep worth a damn. Just get a grin and bear it, Same old song and dance my friend. A year or so and they’ll be gone,
It’s déjà vu all over again. © 2014 Ashira MacyAuthor's Note
