Juneau

Juneau

A Poem by Ashira Macy
"

I have been in Alaska the past week and have been majorly inspired.

"

Long have I heard

Of misty mountains’ majesty,

But it never dawned fully

Until I saw her there in Juneau.

Jutting up in magnificent grandeur -

Clouds hung around her in adoration,

Kissing her face

As two streams of crystal tears

Trickled down her jade cheeks

In awe of her own splendor.

I sighed and breathed in

Her earthy perfume

As I swam in serenity.

A lush and dreamy piece that brought back some personal memories for me as well...in 2001 I spent four months in the Northwest Territories and desperately wanted to take the bus over to Alaska (having never been outside my home country before) but was too busy with work...I love how you've personified 'her' and given her a personality...it has the feel of sadness but I hope they are happy tears that you evoke...gorgeous work Ashira :)

Thank you dear, I am so happy this spoke to you!
Though this is a very serene piece, it does not touch on the beauty of the remnants of nature. It is so bemusing how spectacular what untouched land can instill in us. I enjoy the piece and you have certainly come further than me when it comes to describing the beauty of nature. Nature is certainly something we can fall in love with...

Serenity indeed. A beautiful write, Ashira, its amazing when something like a lavish landscape can take your breath away. You take a deep breath, exhale, and you KNOW there really are majestic beauties to behold.
