One Lone TreeA Poem by Ashira MacyFor Cynthia. In the middle of a grassy clearing There once stood a willow tree. And though it was alone for years Its leaves still rustled happily. Autumn came and Winter too Then Spring carried a new surprise As right beside the willow tree A rosebush started to arise A friendship bloomed with budding roses And blossomed through the years Until one day the willow tree Was brought to wistful tears The sun shone bright upon the pair The weeping willow could only pray As the man dug the roots up with great care And carried the rosebush away. Now the Summer heat has come and gone And the Fall nights hold no glee As all that is left in the clearing now
Is that somber, one lone tree. © 2014 Ashira MacyAuthor's Note
