Angels and Caterpillar KissesA Poem by Ashira MacyFor my beloved father...Remember when I was a little girl Bolting to shelter in your waterbed? Nightmares whisked my panic all in a whirl, You rocked me wishing they plagued you instead; And you sang “Angels watchin’ over me…” Mustache caterpillar kisses galore, How I sobbed when you cut that critter free. Still, daddy’s baby couldn’t ask for more. Now I’m not the tiny child you once knew, But those visions grew ever tangible. Thought I could handle the curve-balls life threw Alone, what a laugh! I was unable. I run to you still, cry on your shoulder You will always be my rock… my boulder.
