Angels and Caterpillar Kisses

Angels and Caterpillar Kisses

A Poem by Ashira Macy
"

For my beloved father...

"

Remember when I was a little girl

Bolting to shelter in your waterbed?

Nightmares whisked my panic all in a whirl,

You rocked me wishing they plagued you instead;

And you sang “Angels watchin’ over me…”

Mustache caterpillar kisses galore,

How I sobbed when you cut that critter free.

Still, daddy’s baby couldn’t ask for more.

Now I’m not the tiny child you once knew,

But those visions grew ever tangible.

Thought I could handle the curve-balls life threw

Alone, what a laugh! I was unable.

I run to you still, cry on your shoulder

You will always be my rock… my boulder.

Oh , this is moving. Not easy to accept fragiliy and how great it was the image of remembering times gone by when security was shed over you like a cocoon. And little has changed as the company and security and overall understanding is still there.

Let there be hope

Thankyou

I love to see words expressing the love and appreciation for what a parent has done for a child. Too often, all we hear are the negative. Your dad will cherish this, always.

Oh that would be so cool if you did give this to your father- you really should! It's power hit me so hard. It sent me back to childhood with my father as well. You described this feeling so well! Your writing is very eye opening.

Aww, he will, this one is very special. :)
Wow I wish I could run to my dad like
this, this is simply Beautiful it makes me
cry so sweet of you to write this for him.

I did some poems for my Father in law
for his birthdays about Trains he loves them
he used to work on old refrigerator Trains it was
his Job and he worked on plans in the Navy so he is
a Vet and now it is Cars he works on old
Classic British cars.

This makes me think when I laid on
my Daddies Chest and fell asleep that
was my safe place so this he will love so
much compassion.

Thank you for sharing this lovely piece
and thank you for your kind review and
comments you left on my page.

I run to you still, cry on your shoulder

You will always be my rock… my boulder.

Beautiful and so true many fathers are our
protectors :)

I think this is wonderful. Warm, heartfelt, nostalgic, loving.
The only thing that comes to mind is the line about depression being less than joyful/happy. Since it's for his birthday, could that line be softened any? Other than that, and that is minor, I think it's wonderful. Beautiful. Sweet.
He will love it so much.

This is just so lovely, if we think how much comfort we get, from our parents, when we are little, and it's that comfort, and love, what makes us so strong today, this poem speaks volume, and it's just too beautiful you wrote it. Very heartfelt. (yes a rock, mine is too) I can't imagine a world without him. Beautiful penning. ((HUGS))
