All Those City Lights

All Those City Lights

A Poem by A.E Dvir

All those city lights
they can leave an emptiness inside
a sense of longing for something more
for someone else

At night when you sit alone
and stare out the window from above
the lights and the quiet will
make you miss something you never had

An ache in your chest
a feeling you just can't shake
that something is gone
and you might never get it back

But…

When you find that someone
(that you always knew deep down)
and you sit with them late at night

Then…

All those city lights
will start to make sense
a feeling of peace will finally
fill that empty space inside

Very beautiful & nicely expressed.
Loved the way you narrated a few things around like "looking down from the window..." it makes a very clear vivid imagery that your metaphor is sitting on the edge of window-pane and keep looking, gawking & just starring down to the street treasured with lights. It makes your metaphor wanting something more to have in life... for having her bliss life full of bless. So here she wishes if she jad someone to talk to, she wouldn't be that lone neither be sitting so lone in the moonlights, but walking down the hills of city lights with him. Very delightful poetry. Also, heartfelt, though. Look forward to read you.
