“Hopeless Romantic”

2/2/11

Help me see the light

The light my soul lost in the fight

with love

above

the clouds where my head lies lost in thoughts

of you

It’s true

I miss you

More than the moon misses the sun

When you’re gone

Far away

Yet you stay

Close to my heart

And every time I see you I restart

To love you all over again

Then

I see your smile

And for a while

It’s just us

No world " love-delirious

Because I’m high

High as the sky

On your smile, laugh, and scent

And before, all I meant

Was good for us, but I made a mistake

And I hope that’s ok

Because I

Learned from what I did

Now I hope to get rid

Of those feelings from the past

Let’s make love last

Let’s learn

And not concern

Ourselves

With thoughts of suicide, lost homes, and hell

I love you - that’s all that matters

You put the scattered

Pieces of my heart together, saved me

You’re part of what made me

Who I am today, and I’m forever grateful

Very powerful poem, especially when spoken.
Simple and conise, in no way fussy :)
