I woke up to a voice in my head.  <Wake up> it said in a echo-y voice, also sounding very mature and sophisticated.  It was speaking in that strange language I called English.

I groaned and sat up.  "What is it now...?" I asked it, then looked around and realized that nobody else was there except Ferocity, Guardian, and Faith who were all fast asleep.  I looked around a little bit.  "Rayne?" I assumed it was him, seeing as nobody else would just show up.  Not only that, but I think he and I were the only ones who knew this strange English language.

"How'd you know?" He walked up to me.  "Did you just 'sense' me or something.  Ha ha, I suppose it makes sense though... you are training more and getting much better at this war scene, I'd think."

I smiled.  "So it was you.  Hello again Rayne." I said.  They were my first words to him in English and not Greek.  It felt strange on my lips and tongue, and even my teeth vibrated in ways they never would with Greek...the odd thing is, I liked it more.  Nobody would understand us, unless of course he had friends, and it felt very reassuring to know that.  "What are you doing here?"  Just to clarify, I expected him for a long time.  I realized that Rayne was sort of a free spirit, and I was very glad to see him again after such a long time, it's just that I knew he would be there.  He's... predictable... to me at least.

"Let's go to the nearby river, shall we?  Perhaps catch up?"  He smiled and offered a hand to me.

I looked back at Ferocity and Guardian, skimming over Faith and then back at Rayne.  I grabbed his hand and we walked away.  I felt as though it was wrong to just leave them there, though... Faith did seem very concerned about me not talking to strangers.  Rayne wasn't a stranger, though. As long as I came back safely, it wouldn't matter.  This was ok.  Besides, Faith was too angry with me, too harsh... he deserved to worry, he deserved to suffer emotionally just as I did... right?

Rayne held my hand tight and I was a little concerned about why.  It was like he was making sure I stayed close.  So I looked up at him and asked, again speaking English, "Why are you holding me so tightly?"

He chuckled and gave me a bright smile.  "I missed you."

I blushed a little.  <Do not let this become a romance> I heard the voice from earlier, echo-y and mature.

            I jumped.  "Whoa!"

<What?  I can't talk to you?> The voice asked again.  I panicked and looked around.  I looked in the trees, on the ground, in the sky...where was this person?

"Where is that coming from!?" I asked, a little frustrated and worried.

"What, what?  What's wrong, Ambrosia?  Are you alright?" Rayne seemed very concerned for me.

I sat and listened for a moment, hearing silence and assuming it went away.  "I...I think it's go--"

            <I don't just disappear> I jumped when I heard it again.

"Who are you!? ...wh...where are you!?" I yelled at everything and nothing around me.  I grabbed my hair.  "What is going on!?"

"Ambrosia calm down!  You're alright, nobody's here but us!" He held my shoulders.  "You're alright, you're safe."  He held me and with concerned eyes looked into my own angrily scared ones.

<I'm in your head.  Shut up; Rayne will think you crazy> It said and I stopped looking around.

"He can't hear you?" I slowly let go of my head but my hands lingered and looked at nothing in particular, just zoned out to a sense.

Rayne was confused to hear this.  "What...?"

I looked up and Rayne and put my hands to his chest.  "There's a voice...in my head..."

Rayne looked at me for a moment and his mouth twitched into a smile, and then he began to chuckle.  "Oh...oh that's all this was!" He began to laugh.

I was completely and utterly confused.

<He knows about me because he has one himself...or should I say he is one...> The voice said, almost assuming that I already knew what she was talking about.

"You mean a demon?" I asked, very confused.

"Yes, yes, a demon.  I didn't know yours would speak up so quickly though.  I noticed she's taken over you before, which is common, but speaking to you usually has a couple more years on it." He explained.  He leaned over, his hands on his hips, so that his face was directly in front of my own.  "You didn't think that was just a cruel joke, did you?" He chuckled and his eyes turned red, the red taking over like dirt in water.  His chuckle started light and fun, but as his eyes were consumed more and more by the red, the more evil it sounded.  "Your eyes change like ours, you're fast and strong and have many more abilities than women of this time usually do.  You survived the war and didn't even have to think about the smoke in your lungs after you got out of the fire in Troy.  You're basically a machine made to house a force bigger than anyone here could understand...you are a demon."

I could tell that by "you" he was referring more to "us," as in this voice and I.  I wasn't the demon.  If anything, I was the body.  That's all I was good for...protecting this other force.  "Oh..." I said, feeling a little bit low to know that.
