A single light.

A single light.

A Poem by Ashinna

There were times I spent alone
Holed up in a single room
Looking out that same window.
Hoping for more.

I kept my dreams in a box that I hid under my bed
Waiting for a better time where I can bring them out again.
I was weak, back broken from holding the world.
The bottle inside me was overflowing,
No more could it hold.
So there I lay slowly shattering.

I single tear I could not cry,
I wanted to be strong this time.
But what a fool I was, making myself believe such things.
The place I stood was no where near being impervious,
I'd fallen.. much too far.

But that single window;
where that brilliant sun shone through every single day,
Gave me a little glimpse of hope.
A small hand to help me up,
Just enough to get me back on my feet

Just enough to keep me going. . .

I really appreciate the honesty in this... and the hope. There is always hope I've learned. You have a gift of expression that is not forced nor overdone. This is a conversation with a good friend, an uplifting reminder. This is writing!
Thank you!!!
