It Hurts Before It Heals

It Hurts Before It Heals

A Poem by Ashes

It left you shattered
Battered, broken, bruised
You're in pieces
Your world seemingly in two

But you're gonna make it
You see it hurts before it heals

It has to hurt
Without the pain you wouldn't grow
You wouldn't learn anything
Wouldn't know half of what you know

It hurts before it heals
Because the pain serves a purpose

Without the hurt, joy couldn't exist
Because of what hurt brings
Emotions pair and they teach
Among many other things

That's why it hurts before it heals
Because it must

Let me tell you something
Once you get through it you will thrive
You will grow and feel better than ever before
And you will once again feel alive

You'll enjoy all life has to offer
So thank God it hurts before it heals

I have read this a couple times in quick succession. It felt...comforting, I guess, like a good friend telling me something I needed to hear. So...thanks :)
