Heartbreak

My girlfriend broke up with me about 6 months ago now and two poems and the start of a song came off of it, all at very different times. This is the first poem

I thought it was suppose to get easier
Not harder
Hurt less
Not more
And yet still I barely function

When you lose the one you love
You're left to pick up the pieces
When the one you loves leaves
They take your heart with them
Leaving you empty inside

Now I'm empty inside

She "swears" she still loves me
Still wants to be with me
But "can't" right now
Says I can't call her mine
What does that even mean?

They say the hurt heals
The heart will mend
You'll move on
Find another "her"
But you don't want another "her"

I don't want another "her"

Each day gets harder
The pain just grows
What makes it worse is I'm the cause
I drove her away
Now I want her back

If it's mean to be then it will be
There could be no real "end"
She could come back
Maybe she needs you
And you need her

I need her
