Cracks in the Foundation

Cracks in the Foundation

A Poem by Ashes
"

I wrote this a few months ago. Had the title for almost 2 years, just needed the rest of the poem

"
Cracks in the foundation
Tearing at the seams
Such is the life of a girl
Living in a world of broken dreams

People always sneering
Judgement in their eyes
They rarely get to know her
So what they believe is based on lies

Perceptions can be misleading
Like with that special girl
What people see, and oyster
They never see the pearl

The voices in her head
Now tell her awful things
Leave her feeling weak
She wishes she had wings

She'd fly to some new state
Start a new life there
Maybe find somebody
Who would actually truly care

Cracks in the foundation
Leave her feeling small
Leave her feeling useless
Wishing she didn't feel at all

Sickness in her brain
From all the pain she's in
Left her with a lot of marks
All over her skin

She was gonna be somebody
She was gonna soar
But then people attacked her
Left her to die upon the floor

She picks herself back up
Tries again to succeed
But the odds are never in her favor
She's missing what she needs

Because when there are cracks in the foundation
There's only so much it can take
No matter the strength inside and out
It's always bound to break

I love that you do not use punctuation; it makes the poem different and gives it a really cool flow. ((And if that's your style then absolutely you should rock it!))

I thought the metaphor that ran throughout the entire poem was great, and I liked how you sort of tied it all up together with that at the end.

A good poem is a story that needs no punctuation.
Thank you for the hope that you project.

This is awesome. I can relate to this a lot. I love the oyster metaphor too.
