Equality

Equality

A Poem by Ashentara

We were all born equal

Apparently

We all claim some share of love

Coz we’ve all grown up to the chimes of

“you’ll find your one and only one day”

And you’ll marry them or something

But then…

What happens when you do find your one and only

Only to lose them after a few months

Does that mean you’ll never feel those feelings again?

A couple of years ago, I’d have said

“please, get a grip, of course you can love lots of people,

if that special someone isn’t available,

you’ll find someone else just as good”

Ah ah.

Or ha ha.

Whatever.

Now I’m in that situation.

I’ve lost the love of my life

And every relationship I’ve tried to build thus far

Has ended miserably

For different reasons

But I’m beginning to believe

That there’s that “one and only person” for each of us

And if you lose them… well you’re screwed.

So much for equality.
