It was a particularly beautiful day. The sky stretches out like a painting, shifting from deep, shadowy navy to the brightest, clearest light blue imaginable. After a week of endless rain, today feels like a gift with the sun shining brightly. There's a sense of hope in the air, as if the gloomy days are finally behind us; Even if it’s just for a few days.

I ran to school while my best-friend, Mia, drives. I run to school everyday, no matter what the weathers like, and get there early enough to shower before the first bell. I always talk to Mia for a few minutes before going inside to shower. It was like every other day, Or so i thought….

* * *

I start my morning by eating waffles; eggs and bacon, Then I spend about a minute brushing my teeth. I get dressed; Putting on my favorite black dress with a butterfly on the chest. I wear fishnet leggings with my blue-and-black checkered knee-socks. I walk over to my closet and get my custom blue converse and sit down on the bench at the end of my bed to put them on. I get my school bag together and put my phone and headphones in the side pocket. I walk back downstairs, and grab my keys while walking out the door. I then get in my car and head to school.

~At school~

I park my truck and then walk over to where Mia is leaning against a wall. She looks up when I reach her and smiles.

“Hey.” She says, Her voice sounding tired and heavy.

“Hey. Are you alright?” I wonder and she nods.

“Yeah, I just didn’t get much sleep last night, I’ve just had this feeling that something bad is gonna happen.” She admits and I simply nod.

“Well, I need to go shower.” I say while looking at the time on my phone.

“Okay,” She says, “Just be careful.” She warns in a hushed voice. Then I nod and hug her before walking away.

“I will, Don’t worry.” I Shout over my shoulder before walking through the door.
