Vortex

Vortex

A Poem by Heather Anne

Deep black vortex
of my heart,
sucking all the love
down and down.

No need to panic
Its how its meant to be.
No more heartache,
no more weakness.

Shouting and screamin,
crying and wailing,
anger and hurt
shall all be averted.

The vortex begins to close,
leaving behind nothing
but a black emptyness,
impenetrable glassy box

Unbreakable heart
nothing can breach,
the defenses are strong,
lost all feelings.

Living a life cut off,
able to experience joy
happyness and fun,
yet one without love.

Listless captive of her heart,
Her mind remembers,
It shies away,
Unwilling to face the pain.

Insatiable hunger,
the vortex returns
shattering the glassy exterior
bringing forth calamity.

Typo: "Shouting and screamin,"

I like the central metaphor of the vortex heart, but I feel that more imagery is possible for the 'cut off' life.
