life's trickA Poem by Heather Anne
Sometimes I wonder why
I even give life a try When those who should love And trust unconditionally don’t Its all such a complicated mess Of lies and hurt and disappointment (true) The dirty, dirty truths so clear, kept hidden away in closets (deep). Maybe life should take a break
and give us all a chance to catch a breath, get rid of the black despair which it creates in everyone. As failed dreams and broken hope heaps up Life laughs while watching us attempt to scramble out As if we were only fish to it Some people take the easy step While others try fight it out. Reality comes out to play As blood’s no longer thick as water Ties that should never break Now hang upon a precipice When mothers break the unspoken rules Refuse to utter the words so needed And love only conditionally Then we see the inconceivable break. Maybe life should take a break and give us all a chance to catch a breath, get rid of the black despair which it creates in everyone. As failed dreams and broken hope heaps up Life laughs while watching us attempt to scramble out As if we were only fish to it Some people take the easy step While others try fight it out. Sometimes I think its just a game Created to keep us busy and out of trouble As if we were merely pawns, in a game of chess. With love and joy so hard to keep And people lie, and maim the ones They are supposed to love. I look at life and wonder why. Maybe life should take a break and give us all a chance to catch a breath, get rid of the black despair which it creates in everyone. As failed dreams and broken hope heaps up Life laughs while watching us attempt to scramble out As if we were only fish to it Some people take the easy step While others try fight it out. © 2013 Heather Anne |
