![]() That Funny MirrorA Poem by AshTM![]() Innocence is in the eye of the beholder.![]() That funny old mirror the one that watches me "What did you say, dear?" asks my mommy absently. The one in the hall, right next to
my door Every time I pass, I see it more and
more. "What do you see?" asks my
mommy curiously. A silly old man with a tall black
hat. He smiles and whispers when I take a
nap. "What do you mean?" asks
my mommy cautiously. He tells me fun stories of angels
and demons. And how I'm so special because I can
see him. "Now, that's enough. Don't lie
to me. Or you'll have no dinner!" snaps my mommy furiously. But, mom, I don't lie. Come see,
it's a fact. I'll show you the mirror, the man
and his hat. See, look for yourself. Is he there
yet? I think he'll be glad for you to
have met. "Why, yes. I do see him. He's
talking quite low. I'll have to lean in, just a little
bit more." That funny old mirror the one that watches me. I guess he got lonely as one tends
to be. Don't stand too close or he'll grab
you right quick. Like he did mommy, when she fell for
his trick. But it's okay. He's still my
friend. And I still see my mommy now and
again. © 2020 AshTM |
