RED TERROR

RED TERROR

A Poem by Asderathos
"

When we lose freedom of speech, freedom of expression...

"

RED TERROR

Blue Honor

Faded to Grey Quiet

With Voltaire’s Pledge Broken

A black banner unfurled

And Siren’s crescendo rising

The luring White Harlot

Beckons Forth Red Terror

This is what it Means

The Blue in flags is often described to represent Honor
The "Grey Quiet" represents the "Liberals" who no longer quote Voltaire and thus no longer have any Honor "I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it." - Voltaire
Anarchists use the standard of a plain Black flag and Tearing down a Govt. into anarchy is a common method for ppl to rebuild their version of Utopia
The rest is a multilayered allegory to-
1. men being lured into Communist meetings by girls,
2. The Incessant Slanders that are happening and have occurred with all totalitarian regimes,
3. And of course the "Red Terror" Bolshevik execution of rival socialist revolutionaries: symbolic in language to the shouting down of dissent with pejorative labels making ppl too afraid of being called "Racist" (or equivalent) to speak out.

I've read another piece of yours the other day, and my mind went spiraling out of control trying to figure out what it meant. It could have meant all sorts of things...there were no notes. I thought I'd try another... and this one I loved without the notes. The notes give meaning to the beauty of the piece, and it's awesome. It says so much. I really like this style.

Although it was decpiherable, thank you for the explanation to clarify your meaning. PS It was short and too the point, like the sting of hornet, and it left me thinking which is more than I can say about most peoples poetry these days. thank you
