You and I

I'm going to revise the structure and end rhyme in various parts of this but this was the rough outline of my ideas

What would you do

If I told you

That we were both the same

Similar but different

Contradictory maybe

But not the same at all

 

What would you do

If I told you

That green was actually blue

Maybe to me

But not to you

Which is the real true?

 

What would you say

If I went away

And wrote about my life

 

The life that I hear

With headphones in ear

The life that people tell me

With closed lips and clenched fists

The life that I hear when I can’t

 

What would you think

If I told you I drink

But I can’t ever open my mouth

 

I’ve been silenced before

And shunned like a w***e

I don’t really care

But it hurts when they stare

 

You should know these things

These things that I say

Because maybe one day

You’ll see

We aren’t so different
