Friday Night

Friday Night

A poem about the nights spent with my best friend

Friday Night

Oh, all the possibilities the weekend will bring

The week is over

My time to shine

Who else to spend it with

Than my best friend

His home

Such a warm building

Otherwise known as base camp

Texting chicks and playing licks

The future does not exist

Only here and now

We live for this moment

It happens every Friday

The two of us

Against the world

Undefeated against time

Time creeps along

Every Friday, same s**t

Burnt cheese pizza in the oven

Is that a pistol?

No laws between these walls

You’ve never experienced true freedom before

We weren’t the cool kids

But we were true

Often hated

Step through the door and you’ll see

This is how it’s supposed to be

Two versus the world

Everything to gain

Nothing to lose

Going down swinging

Until the game dies

Then it’s time for sleep

Sleep

He was always the first to crash

Never to return from his lucidity

The only time we were able to be stopped

Was when night brought us down
