The Start of a New LifeA Chapter by PrimaThe cold winter breeze hit along the country of Razu'dri, the land completely covered in a vast blanket of snow. Everyone began there morning routine as the sun has touched the surface of the earth. Up on the mountains was a boarding school, it was the most prestigious of the whole country...it was the boarding school 'Westwood' occupied mostly by noble children of the fair country the school has earned a title of being one of the best teaching facilities. Its castle-like architecture showed the lands of its high stature, the tall columns were of marble as the flooring was of porcelain. There were three separate classes in the school. Sun, Luna, and Stars; the Sun class belonged to the males who attended the school. Stars were for the girls, yet the Sun and Stars were both of human race. Luna belonged to a completely different race.
“Ahiru’s: The race, named after the first recorded person with the gift. By studies of some of the doctors, it is noted that it is a genetic mutation of the protein keratin. In this mutation, the keratin fuses with a founded protein by the name of Ruderia. It changes the way the hairs’ formed. Centered on the head the hair begins to connect to the nervous system and brain. This causes involuntary or voluntary movement on an Ahiru’s hair. The gene and mutation has loophole into the gene pool for the past two hundred and seventy-five years. “Not only does this make the hair move, Ahiru’s can change its length and texture, and change the pigment of the hair color. Some research has shone that there are some Ahiru’s with easier control of this than others, those who can control it easier has it moving to the train of thought and had been able to do things called impossible.” A young woman spoke before her class as a tall man looked at her. “So you are saying Miss Aquino. That the race of the Ahiru is just a new mutation to the human race?” The man asked wanting to break down the girl. “That is correct Mr. Barton.” Cira Aquino said nodding her head swiftly. She grabbed the sleeve of her uniforms blazer as a moon pin sat over her left breast. She hated being asked about her race; seriously can’t these humans leave us alone already? Her thought were placed in a bitter direction as the teacher scratched the beard on his chin. “So you spoke of ‘things called impossible’…please make that known to our class on how it may be.” Mr. Barton said sounding mature and all mighty. “Well it can in some ways allow flight, expansion of the years, quick healing, &ct.” Cira responded her voice was leveled and it irked her teacher. “Well how"“ Mr. Barton began to only be stopped by the sound of the huge bell. It signified the end of class and beginning of break. Everyone saw as Mr. Barton waved them off and so they did. Cira walked out of her classroom as everyone else did as well. Without so much of a warning, two of her friends grabbed her at each arm. Rolling her eyes Cira knew which of her friends did so. A girl by the name of Maria and a boy by the name of Lucas held her arms. “You did an awesome job over there at Barton…I wonder why he picks on you so much?” Lucas said and the three of them laughed. “I know right? Barton completely hates us.” Maria added to the topic nodding. Cira looked at Maria the young seventeen-year-old girl before her. Her chocolate colored eyes were happy and jittery, a line of freckles cover her nose and cheeks. Her hair today was in the color red, seeing that she is an Ahiru as well. Lucas on the other hand bore yellow-green eyes, his frame was great, and he was also handsome. It was a common trait with the Ahiru’s though most of them hated the fact. A tap hit Cira’s shoulder various times, when she looked back her fiancée Cain stood behind her. “Cain.” Cira said happily, there engagement was arranged by both of there parents, but that was many years ago. Yet things weren’t on the ‘love’ point, it was more brotherly than true love, but being good friends they would live with it. “How was your report on Ahiru’s in Barton?” “It was awesome of course but Barton can’t stand it when someone as strong as Cira makes our race clearly better than the humans.” Maria said happily and all three high-fived each other. “Well let’s just hope that Cira won’t get mad today.” Lucas teased knowing that her hair would lash out. “Ha, ha, ha very funny Luke…let’s hope that you get a power boost and you can share this with me.” Cira responded making Lucas shake his head feverously. The bell rung and everyone went there separate ways. Quick byes and hugs were shared thought friends as they all went to there classes. Cira walked to one of her favorites Anatomy. Something about the structure of both humans and Ahiru’s which were very similar interested her. Walking in everyone began to talk in hushed tones as a young girl with red hair was in Cira’s seat. “That’s my seat.” Cira said pleasantly. “So?” The girl asked a smirk played on her face. “It’s mine now.” “Stupid human.” Cira mumbled under her breath as her hair picked the girl up. “Hey what?! Put me down this instance you b***h!” The human girl said as Cira’s hair just tightened its grip on the human. “I don’t like to be called like that. Know your place human…it isn’t here.” Cira said as her hair threw her to the flow. “Aquino….again you must get in fights….the student council president is here to see you.” The teacher said and Cira looked up to see the student council president. She was a small girl, clearly below average height, yet had a full figure to have people not look at her height. “Fine…” Cira muttered as she stood up and walked out with the president over to the dean’s office. It was not far from where they were originally so it took less time to get there. Once getting in the office Cira was made to walk by herself to the deans. Once in she just sat into the dim room. “You called ol’ man?” Cira asked and the dean sighed. “Well Cira I have some news.” “That is?” Cira was impatient speaking with authority was never her strong hold. “We had broken off your marriage ties with Cain, now you are engaged to William Rhule the prince of Razu'dri.” The dean said quickly, he had been warned by all of the teachers of Miss Aquino’s outburst’s and the damage it causes. At first there was nothing, she looked pale like a ghost. Yet as time set and her mind began connecting the dots her body began trembling and her hair lashed out. It was out of everyone’s control, as staff members tried to stop her. Even the student council tried to hold her down. Yet there was no way to. They didn’t know what to do at that. One of the security officer’s of the school was an Ahiru and he jumped in squeezing her tightly. “AHHHHHHHH!” Her cry of pain was obvious as a crack was heard. Suddenly the once organized strings of hair were out of control, trembling and quivering as it tried to free its other half. “Calm down…Miss Aquino the moment you stop I’ll let go.” He said desperately trying to stop her, and then as if it never happened the figure of the teenage girl went limp and immobile. The guard began walking with Cira still in his grasp to the nurses. “Hey let her go!” The council president demanded. “Quiet human.” He commanded as he got to the nurse she gasped. “What happened?” “Get me Mike.” He said simply and the girl nodded as she disappeared. “Ah Jake what happened now?” A man who seemed to be in his thirties asked and the guard shrugged. “I need your special healing abilities and x-ray vision.” Jake told Mike who simply nodded. “Where?” Mike asked as he showed Jake on where to lay Cira down. “The right arm.” Jake answered. “Well the bones in the arm are the humurous, radius, and the ulna. Well I have to say all of them are completely shattered. It’ll take me an hour to make it as good as new.” “Time granted…come on Mike!” Jake started as Cira stirred. “What happened to her anyway?” Mike asked as he began to heal the girl as he wrapped one strand of hair around specific parts of her arm. “Well she lost it.” “So she’s Ahiru?” Mika asked he was more fascinated now. “Yep…turns out the dean broke her past engagement.” “Why?” “How am I supposed to know…just heal her arm to know the rest of the news.” “That isn’t necessary…can you wake her up?” The dean asked over to the doctor. “Sure.” Mike said as he hit specific pressure points on Cira’s forehead. She stirred and woke up to see many eyes staring at her. “Are you ok?” Jake asked worried. “Yeah but"ah.” Cira noticed a sharp pain in her right arm. “Don’t move I’m reconstructing your arm, it was completely shattered.” Mike said and he smiled. “If it was a normal human it would had taken me an hour, yet with you I am a fourth of the way done.” “Oh…thank you brother.” Cira noted at the Ahiru man. “Well Cira as I was saying…” The dean began. “About that…why am I getting married to a prince?” Cira asked angrily her hair moved barely unnoticed. “Well the king wishes to bring peace to the Ahiru population and humans, so he wants to have the strongest female Ahiru marry his son William.” “So it’s just because I’m strong.” Cira said angrily…she hated the fact that she was strong but now she is having her life thrown upside down because of it. Life was horrible at that moment. Half an hour had passed as the good doctor said that Cira may move around, she wanted to leave all of the humans behind yet she was dragged over to a different room. “Woah!” She noted as she was pushed in. “Jerk face.” She mumbled angrily. Sitting in the only chair in the room was a guy; he didn’t seem to be older than Cira herself. He had a dress shirt and slacks. His hair was jet black and he held hazel eyes. “What a way to get in here.” He noted as he stood up. “Yeah.” Cira said immediately on guard, humans annoyed her and she didn’t trust them. “It’s a pleasure to meet you,” He said as he extended his arm, sighing Cira did the same and he kissed it. “Am I suppose to say ‘same’?” Cira asked unaffected. “Not if you don’t want to…I’m William.” The man pointed to himself and Cira nodded. “Cira.” She stared him down, it was easily seen that she was not pleased being around his company. If looks could kill, William thought amused; I would have been six feet under by now. The woman before him looked not only angry but strikingly beautiful as well. He enjoyed looked over her form as silence wrapped around them.
She noticed what he was doing. The nerve of the humans! She thought bitterly, her body was practically exposed to the person in the opposite side of the room. The moon pin gleamed by the sunlight as her chest heaved up and down slowly as she breathed heavily furious. "Are you going to at least try to start a conversation...or are you too immature and would continue to stare at my body?" Cira asked clearly irked at his behavior. He looked at her eyes; it didn't even show embarrassment which would happen once someone was caught doing an act they shouldn't do. "Forgive me Miss Aquino...I was just observing my future wife. Does that bother you?" He was amused. The Ahiru before him was nothing like how he was told they were. Well some points were noticed in Cira Aquino's behavior. The fact that they don't like humans seemed true; along by the fact that most despised it when someone would stare, they were clearly visible in her actions. The woman before him was going to be a fun. After having so many play nights and lovers, he was getting bored with the opposite sex. This is what he needed, a challenge; something that would keep him entertained, and teasing her would be a fun thing. "Greatly...I feel as if I am being sold off to a pervert." Her voice dropped an octave and it sounded more professional, her eyes seemed to have gotten darker a killing aura danced around her. Yet to him it only lapped his interest, her voice seemed husky and oh so seductive. Her darkened eyes told him 'back off'...it was temptation at his finest, and he was always one to succumb to such temptation. "Miss Aquino I am but an honorable man." He said with a smile, Cira thought that he was like a snake. "I would never dream of being a pervert." 'Dream', he thought...yet reality and dreams are different. "Then as an honorable man that you are...please excuse me. I wish to rest...the doctor said that resting the rest of the day would do me good." She said standing up quickly her movements like a refined lady. If there was ever a day she would go and hug her Etiquette instructor today would be the day. "Why would the doctor tell you to rest?" He asked interested. Along by being a royal prince, William Rhule was also one of the best Psychiatrists in the country. If anything had to be with doctors...it interested him greatly. It not only lapped his interest at her sex appeal which he would've given a big, fat 10; it interested him to see what crazy things the girl could've been up to. "I had my arm shattered." She said as if it was nothing. He looked at her astonished, there was no cast on either arm and she looked perfectly healthy and spotless of injury. "Then why are you here?" "I wish to know the same; after the doctor, which is a respectable Ahiru, healed my arm they shoved me in here." She said her voice seemed calmer when she spoke of the Ahiru doctor, a third fact arose. Ahiru's are best in the company of other Ahiru's. "Well then please forgive me...it seems to be a terrible thing keeping you here when you needed bed rest." William also stood up and bowed in a gentlemanly manner. She nodded her head in recognition and began to walk towards the door then exit the room. A grin appeared on his face as she walked away. It has been years since something has grasped his interest in a good way. He closed the door and locked it as well; around five minutes had passed since her departure from the room. He was now bored not being able to annoy the young Ahiru. He clapped his hands as a maid walked in, she was an eye candy. A voluptuous body to caress, strong legs to support her, small in stature and a petite waist. They were things that he wanted when he was with a woman. Those things also described Cira Aquino but something else described the woman, fire. She was a dominant and fiery woman...something he hasn't encountered, and frankly it excited him. The maid had bright brown eyes and short blond hair; she walked in with a tight outfit. William walked over to her and kissed her trying to rid himself of his boredom. Cira Aquino, he thought to himself, things are going to get interesting. Cira walked away the office to where William Rhule was in. She was walking in a fast pace. She really wished to be alone now; he was such an impossible man. He openly looked at her as if she was property; also he's an ignorant human. She wanted to cry from frustration, yet being prideful as she is she ended up running full speed to her dorm room as soon as the hot angry tears spilled out from her eyes. She slammed the door closed as she yanked the jacket she wore off showing a white dress shirt as she threw herself on the bed. Her arm was sore so when she threw herself it pained her but she endured it. "Pathetic....absolutely pathetic." She said in between sobs. "Where's the proud Ahiru now?" She asked as the tears continued to fall. She didn't know how long she was crying, yet after she did stop did her breathing evened out as she slept the rest of the day away. It was the second Thursday of the month. Meaning that parents were allowed to see their children for two hours. Cain's parents Annemarie and Michael glided through the campus as they searched for their son and future daughter-in-law. Both were beautiful as all others of their race were.7 Annemaria had burnt honey colored eyes as her hair went wavy and colored itself a soft brown, she was an elegant woman wearing a white and peach colored dress. Michael bore darker eyes as his hair was kept short and black, he wore a dark green suit with a white dress shirt. They found their son as he was with his childhood friends Lucas, and Maria. "Cain." Annemarie said with a polite, firm voice. All three looked at the Ahiru woman as deer in headlight eyes looked from her to Michael. "Mother...Father." He addressed the two in the proper manner bowing low and quickly. "Where's Cira?" Michael asked his dark eyes looked around and couldn't see her. "No clue, sir." Lucas said with a shrug.2 "We've been trying to find her." Maria added in easing the parents hold on Cain. "We were going in to her room." Cain said as everyone nodded with the exception of Lucas who shrugged once again. While going towards the Moon dorms the dean Ronald and a man were visible and walked towards them. The Ahiru's were confused. Usually the dean never regarded the existence of an Ahiru. "You are Annemaria and Michael Requiom, Cain's parents correct?" Ronald asked as all five Ahiru's stared at both men completely confused. "Yes." Annemaria spoke cautiously as both parents looked to each other, to their son, and back to the dean and the man that accompanied them. Usually having the dean of any school address a parent is by two reasons: either a scold, or praise. Having a human like Ronald meant that he would rather cut his tongue before he praised an Ahiru, so it must be a scold. "What did you do?" Maria elbowed Cain lightly as she whispered enough for her, Cain, and Lucas to hear. "Yea and why didn't you tell me in on it?" Lucas whispered back as a mischievous grin played on his face. "I didn't do anything...I would expect it from you though." Cain said towards Lucas as all three nodded their heads. "Well I apologize but-" Ronald began speaking as the man near him cleared his throat loudly. "Allow me to say it." The man cut off and stared at the dean who just nodded. "A question first if possible." He said with a smile and Michael nodded. "Go on." "You are all citizens of Razu'dri correct?" He asked as all the Ahiru's nodded their head as if stating the obvious. "My name is Armand Edinburg, I am also known as the Prime Minister of Razu'dri and right hand of the king." The Ahiru's were shocked at this having the dean address them was confusing to begin with. Now having a man call himself the Prime Minister addressing them was surreal. They all were stunned. "Is there anything to prove that your claims are legitimate?" Michael asked in a cautious voice. There was definitely something wrong happening...he could tell. Yet he couldn't put his finger on it. "Yes there is actually." Armand said as he took out a piece of parchment from the coat's breast pocket. "If you were kind enough as to read this, then you will also understand a bit as to why I am addressing you all." He handed it over to Michael that read the parchment's calligraphy. By what he was reading...it was a decree. Said decree was to find the strongest Ahiru woman by the age of William Rhule the prince of Razu'dri. This is so they can be joined in holy matrimony and bringing peace to the Ahiru and human races. At the end of the parchment were two signatures. One was Lord Armand Edinburg's the Prime Minister...the other was Walter Rhule the King of Razu'dri. "It says here Sir Edinburg that you are looking for 'a young Ahiru woman of great strength in power by mentality and physical means'." He read aloud the parchment so the others may know what was going on. "Correct...and by the seven months that I have been searching. No young lady had fitted the description than young Cira Aquino daughter of Elena Rose and Nikolai Aquino." Armand spoke and Michael understood the reason that they had come. "In other words you are here to formally denounce the marriage between my son and Nikolai's daughter?" Michael asked to keep everyone in the loop. "I wish there would have been better conditions...but in essence that is true. Miss Cira Aquino is to be married to his royal highness the Crown Prince William Rhule of Razu'dri, in twelve days time." Armand noted as he handed another piece of parchment to Michael. When Michael skimmed over it he noted that it was the formal denounce of the arranged marriage. "Cira." Maria whispered as she worried for her friend. "Excuse me but does she know?" Maria asked aloud as everyone now thought of that. "Yes and she has already met with the Crown Prince." Armand answered as she curtsied low and walked to the direction of Cira's room. Having Lucas and Cain bow and follow her lead. They rushed to her room and saw the sleeping girl in her bed. Her cheeks were wet and streaked red. Maria nudged the girl to wake her up. Cira opened her eyes with a yawn to see Maria, Lucas, and Cain staring at her. She sat up and rubbed her eyes clean; being the proud person she was…she will not admit that she was crying. They knew it all too well so they won’t ask. She started to open her mouth but was cut off by Lucas who made a strand of his hair cover her lips. “We heard…from the Prime Minister too; so don’t worry about it.” Lucas said and that relieved Cira greatly. She feared having to tell this to Cain. The situation itself seemed highly improbable; she wouldn’t have believed it if they would have told her it. So having them know it already removed a weight from her shoulder. "That really sucks Cira." Maria said having all of them nod sadly. "I mean out of every possible choice they got the one girl that despises humans, sorry to say it but I am feeling pity for that pince." "Don't be," Cira spoke low her hair twitched slightly, "That man doesn't deserve your pity. I mean he is such a pervert." © 2011 PrimaAuthor's Note
