Chapter 3 'Memories - In the darkness there's no life, only reposeful death'

"

We lay on the beach when the sun shines on cloudless sky. It was a hot summer day. You leanded against a big rock and I was beside you my head leaning against your shoulder. Swallows were singing farther away, lake's deep blue water came again and again to stroke the shore's little stones. My thoughts were as restful as the lake's water. 'A penny for your thoughts?' you said smiling. I turn to smile to you. 'Nothing special, I am just so happy' I said and leaned my head against his shoulder again. Mike pinched playfully my cheek.

'You know what I mean sweetie' he said. 'Are you really HAPPY?' he asked and turn to look at me. My face lit up and I smiled wide and nodded. 'Yes, I'm sure. I'm death seriously actually.' You looked at me and I saw so many emotions on your face. I looked at you carefully like as I could take a picture of your face and close it permanently in my heart & soul.

Your strong face features...your strong eyebrows that sometimes made you look like a little harsh BUT your friendly eyes and your dimples soften your face and when you smiled, it always made me feel weak. You took my face between your hands gently and you looked at me. 'I'll never leave you, I'll always, ALWAYS be there for you, you know that right?' you said. I nodded. You kissed me gently and I forget everything else, because you are filling my every thought and every breath with your love.

And then another memory and scene

This memory was a few years later, exactly on that day when I turned to 18. It was the beginning of March and the spring seemed to be far away. You took me to the town and when we arrived at jewelry shop I felt how my heart beat fast and my hands began to sweat. 'What are we doing here Mike?' I asked laughing nervously. Mike just smiled to me and we entered into the shop. Woman seller was tall brunette who had a wide smile on her face when she greeted us. She looked at us smiling as if she knew something what I didn't know and she pulled out the engagement rings to present them to us.

'Mike?' I gasped and looked at him. But Mike had lean on a table top smiling and he was looking at the rings. Then he showed one ring and the seller woman took the ring out to his view. 'This is the right one!' he said with a huge smile on his face and he turned to me and showed the ring to me. His face almost shone with excitement. The ring was a simple round golden ring which had  only one small diamond, and it was decorated with two pigeons who looked at each other from both sides of the stone. 'So what you think about it? Please say something Ann!' Mike said.

I felt how words got stuck inside of me, I couldn't breath and my legs felt like jelly. Then I lifted my eyes to his face that had been filled with expectation and I smiled at him, I almost felt as if my heart would burst with happiness & love and I reached out to Mike and kissed him. 'It means Yes?' Mike said and he hugged me tightly and his eyes filled with tears of happiness that flowed on my cheeks. I nodded and hide my face in his arms and then we laughed with happiness together.

Again new memory

7 years later, in early April. We had been happy during this entire period. Nothing kept us apart. We had our own apartment and Mike worked in the transport company's as an office manager, which carried goods as cargo all over the world. I worked on the marketing side in a big company as an assistant. We always had so much fun together. We had been engaged all these seven years and we had been intended to get married when I turned to 21 but the wedding plans always moved forward and now we were finally nearing its end, the wedding was scheduled for April this same year. The wedding was weeks away. My big sister and my mother had helped me with my wedding preparations. Helen worked as a photographer in a photography shop and she had promised to be our wedding photographer.

My mother had promised to bake all necessary. My wedding dress was hanging in my room in a suit bag so that Mike can not see it before wedding day. It was saturday and we were off work because of wedding. I was worried and I twist my ring on my finger, looking out the window at the same time. Mike had gone to visit his workplace because he had to apply for a couple of paper and give instructions to his employees what to do when we are left to our honeymoon. We had intention to go to Ireland for a week. He had been traveling for four hours even though it only takes half an hour to drive to there from us. I could not even think rationally.

I tried to call him the second time, but again, the phone rang a little while and then stopped. I wonder what to do when suddenly my phone rang and I answered it with worried voice regardless of who called. 'Mike! Where ARE you? I've been worried sweetie!' Silence. 'Mike? Is that you?' I said crying. 'Is this Ann Sofie Hurt on the phone?' a unknow man's voice asked kindly. 'Yes, with whom I am talking about?' I asked my tone trembling. 'I'm officer Harris, I call to announce that Micheal Andrew Williams has unfortunately had a car accident, there were  a bad crash, the other car was driven straight to his car against the driver's door. Another driver did not hurt but Micheal is unconscious and he has been taken to the hospital and..hello!...are you there?..hello!' officer Harris shouted but I didn't heard him anymore because I stood leaning against the wall trying gasp breath. Room was spinning in my eyes and finally I fainted (Helen told it to me afterwards) because she found me after she had heard the news.

Okey, finally here's the chapter 3! Writing this took the longest time. Again memories and more about Ann and Mike's past and what has happened before Mike's accident.

I like how you have encapsulated each memory, in its own time... bringing forth the story to the present... very good chapter. Great job, Sarah!

A very nice chapter. I love the way you write. The softness and strength of this story made me read the chapter a second time for the language and strong description. You need to connect the chapter. Easy for reader to flow into the chapter. A excellent chapter.

Oh my gosh! Who wouldn't faint in that case? I'm looking up for the next chapter! I wanna know what happens to Mike... XD
Interesting...Just interesting! :)))
Hope he'll not have the same fate like "Matt" (in my screenplay)... XD
