The boy who wanted to play with the moon

The boy who wanted to play with the moon

A Poem by ~Sarah~ Idríel The Fair

Once upon a time there was a little boy

who was born into this world in mid-winter.

Dark hair he had like the deepest night

and stars glimmering in his eyes.

He laughed a lot and when he did so

it was like a cheerful stream who sings.

‘ Mommy, mommy I want to play with the moon! ‘

he said when he saw the moon high in the sky

waving behind the snow-covered branches of trees.

‘ Mommy, mommy I reach for the moon.

I almost had it, come play with me! ‘

His mother laughed and pointed with her finger

towards the moon and said;

‘ Look little boy of mine, dearest son of ours

can you see how the stars are playing with the moon?

Oh little one, dearest dreamer from the land of the fairies

can you see how the moon is laughing? ‘

The little boy hop along beside his parents and

the laughter of his rose and awaken the silent world

and the star dust danced in the wind.

And then he sang

‘ Come, come play with me little fairies

and take along the moon and the stars! ‘

‘ Mommy, mommy I reach for the moon.

I almost had it, come play with me! ‘

Once upon a time there was a little boy

who wanted to play with the moon.

And he knew the secret land of the fairies.
