99 per cent happy

99 per cent happy

A Poem by ~Sarah~ Idríel The Fair

I am (not) always happy. 'You should be happy' they say. In the modern world only money guarantee happiness. 'All is well, why are not you happy?' I tell, I am 99 per cent happy. My life's good. I am healthy, I have a family. We have money so that we can get food on the table. I am lucky. I am married to the only man that I love, after ten long years.

So they ask me, 'why are not you happy?' I am silent for a moment. Then I look at you, good questioner, my friend, and I make a response. Sometimes life leaves its marks so deep that no matter how you try to, they do not heal completely.

Believe me, I have tried to.

I've hoping that I could be more worthy of you.

But when you are happy, let it show. Try to smile, although it would be difficult to. Life's too short. Do every day something that makes you happy.
