My last promise to you

My last promise to you

A Poem by ~Sarah~ Idríel The Fair

I thought I saw you.
But it was only a dream.
Echoes from the past. Ghosts of yesterday.
So fragile and precious was my life with you.
Your ghost, shadows of you, keep me sane.
How can I leave this place if you're still here?
How can I drink that last toast of my life if you're still here?
You said once, 'life's too short, I've been blind whole time'.
You wanted to see the world, but the only thing you saw was a drunken driver's car
headlights at crosswalk.
The driver fled the scene, leaving your bruised body down the ground.
All that blood on your face, I should not have to see.
I could not do anything. I could not do anything.
I promise to you, I do not live my life in anger and bitterness.
You shine even brighter, your beautiful soul.
Not bruised face anymore, just pure and beautiful soul of yours.
