Chess

Chess

A Poem by Arundass TP
"

To kill the opponent

"
Chess stamps of Magayar posta
Lit my inner lantern
To save my King, with violent queen
followed by chariots and Elephants
Inside dusty squares of monochrome
To defeat the opponent
With devil's heart
Sipping blood of mine
Draining to death
The war is fought never-ending
King is helpless, Queen with weapons
The fire, dust and deafening cry
Of dying soldiers, never seen inside frame
Unless checkmate is growled
To cut the head of opponents King
Without mercy, The dust disappears
History lies as past memories.

this poem is a lovely use of metaphors. you capture the intensity of a game such as chess just right. the last sentence hits nicely. although not a paragraph of my words, i do enjoy this poem, especially as a chess player myself. you've done a wonderful job.

Powerful movement of thoughts in the words my friend. Life is like a Chess game. I tell people often. Sending soldiers and bombs. You are not seeking peace. No mercy in war. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

There is no peace in any war. Thank you friend.
What an interesting poem. I have never had the patience for chess, but you have surely made me look at the game in a new light. Well done!

I think I'll stick with snakes n ladders for the time being, life's too short for such dangerous games 😉👍

Chess is not dangerous Neville. It is just that they have some hidden pain in it.

True. I had been playing chess for about 3 years now. I have won 3rd position with a group in a chess interhouse competition. And yes, truly understand the pain. Those times when the pawns and other pieces just try to save their king but end up doing blunders and mistakes. Pieces guarding the king even if it means taking out themselves. It's like a battlefield which no one notices, where a war is going on, pain and sweat. You truly understand what it means. It's more than just a game. Lovely write.

Wow, the last sentence was definitely very powerful. I loved it. Perfect style of expression and perfect use of metaphor.

Now this is a most wonderful poem where a game as a metaphor for war is now used as a metaphor in a poem. Two levels deep is a depth of two atmospheres and things appear different in the light of this level. Cleverly written with great word choice. Very nicely done
