Homeless Creatures

Homeless Creatures

A Poem by Arundass TP
"

Written in the year 2011, this poem is published in Alive magazine April 2011 issue page 57. A crab sanctuary turned Drive-in Beach

"
Spreading the horizon of white sand;
Between the ocean and vast land;
Where the cool breeze murmurs;
The story of heavens and the earth.

Digging around the home of peace;
Where the moon and sun sings melodies;
Where the cool and hot winds touches;
Crabs are there in plenty.

Days passed, years passing by;
Future is present;
Present vanished to past;
Changes the landscape forever.

Sun was crimson hue;
Predicting the arms of hell nearing;
Morning was warm, cold blooded;
Arms of horror and terror crawled allover.

Sand was thrown high;
Some pressed in trails, somewhere half;
Holes were shattered and pressed;
Heavy tyres rushed here and there.

Breaking the hardest shell on the back;
Scattering it all around in a second;
Some was thrown-away into the abyss of sand;
Choking to death without even smelling death.

Escaping to the horizon;
Where the sun turn red sometimes;
Is there a heaven somewhere there?
Swam with all power, leaving behind the home .

Not every gift of nature is held in the same regard with all due assumed respect; Humans by nature are short-sighted creatures and creative destruction is our ingrained habit. We may suppose we are the best product nature has ever conceived due to our dominance over the planet as a species and our great network of social intelligence, but the time runs out for us as it would every species, we'd be left to become dust and sand for the next possible species to excavate us all the same. To preserve nature is to protect our heritage and preserve our ways of life, after all even if all humans vary to many degrees, we are still united in nature and in this life.
Thank you for sharing your work, author Arundass TP. Have a nice day.

"Some were thrown into the abyss of sand, choking to death without even smelling death" this made me want to cry. So much injustice in the world to animals.

The destruction of the natural environment and species due to the ignorance of our own. A beautiful opening, a tragic end Arundass. Wonderful poem.

You are welcome.
Some kind of holocaust like event seems to have created homelessness for the poor crabs…. Nature’s way of destroying creatures…well written and strong words, vivid images as well…

It sounds like a war zone for the poor crabs. Man's destructive tendency towards nature is only outstripped by his destructive and violent tendencies towards his fellow man. I enjoyed reading your work.

Congratulations on the publishing of your poem. I don’t know the subject well enough to comment but I did find the opening stanza quite musical.

Thanks friends

this is not just about crabs tho is it .. this could very easily be about those countless individuals who are displaced and made homeless as a result of conflict or war and of course by extremes of nature, for example earthquake, tsunami or flood .. whatever the case, I enjoyed the ride ..
